PATHBUILDERS

Building a youth talent pipeline to benefit the Greater Lawrence community

The Lawrence PathBuilders is an intentional community-wide investment in the long-term ecosystem of relationships, programs, and expectations that ensures all Lawrence students have access to the experiences and credentials necessary to compete for the next generation of skilled jobs and meaningful lives through increased career exposure and college access.

HIGH SCHOOL +

COMMUNITY-WIDE IMPACT

The Lawrence PathBuilders brings together industry, philanthropy, various segments of education, community-based organizations and other key stakeholders together in support of the college and career pathways being developed and implemented at Lawrence High School.  This initiative will drive long-term outcomes for:

  • Students and their pursuit of good paying jobs and meaningful careers

  • Employers and their need for a broad and deep pool of talent to recruit

  • The regional economy as a whole through the investment of a dynamic ecosystem where companies and residents alike can thrive

The LHS Career Pathways Initiative will provide LHS students:

  • Career-focused pathways including AP courses, non-remedial dual credit courses in the Early College program and other college level learning experiences such as math labs, coding boot camps, and writing workshops

  • Applied learning opportunities with an explicit focus on STEM fields, enabling students to become interested, gain experience, and build confidence in STEM subjects forming the foundation of high-demand careers

  • Work-based learning that provides exposure to real-world workplaces, provides social capital and teaches the professional skills needed to thrive in a career

As an extension of the Career Pathways Initiative, the LHS Early College Program will:

  • Allow LHS students to engage in college level work, deepen their understanding of what it means to be college-ready, develop themselves as scholars, and envision themselves as college students

  • Provide LHS students the opportunity to earn their 12 credits at Merrimack College or 24 credits at Northern Essex Community College as well as the opportunity to participate in internships and work-based learning activities
